The pricing of hostels (Berlin)
The pricing of hostels is day- and season-dependent. If a booking portal does not show the current price, most likely the date has to be provided first.
Hostels can offer a variation of different accommodations. These can include apartments, guest rooms with or without bathroom, as well as dormitory rooms.
Apartment pricing: These depend a lot on provided comfort, size, facilities, location and season. The usual price span for a two-person apartment in Berlin is between 39.00€ (Winter, simple furnishing, average location, basic comfort) and goes up to 150.00€ (Main season, event price, luxurious facilities, city center location).
Guest room pricing: What factors into the price of apartments usually affects guest rooms just the same: Accommodations, location and season affect pricing a lot. Most guest rooms accommodate either one or two guests and there are rooms with attached bathroom, or with shared bathrooms on the same floor. The usual price span for a two-person guest room is between 30.00€ for the cheapest and up to 80.00€ for the more luxurious.
Dormitory pricing: Dorms are rented by the bed and usually accommodate between 4 and 12 guests. Most dorms are mixed, some are separated by gender. Personal belongings are kept in a locker and expensive items are usually stored inside a safe at the reception.
